Smink means Make-up in Norwegian and this is where the head Lipstick Lady, Marianna hails from. She has worked for many years as a make-up artist for both private and corporate clients and these have included fashion designers such as Paul Costelloe and Lindka Cierach Couture in London. She has designed make-up for seasonal fashion shows, worked on PR launches for record labels and was also the International Make-Up Artist for american cult cosmetic brand Fresh. Due to a persuasive fiancée she has recently relocated from Central London to Yorkshire and will be establishing her business in this area.
Marianna is independent and is not affiliated with any one brand, and is therefore able to recommend genuinely good products for each client. Luxury, specialist brands such as MAC, Clinique, Chanel, Kryolan and Artistry are the norm. She also works with Airbrush make-up which gives a superb flawless base and is fast becoming the industry standard for high definition TV and film work. The make-up is much more in depth than a typical beautician's application, and she uses techniques to light and shade the face, minimise double chins, cover scars and rosacea, soften wrinkles and of course create looks that will last for as long as they need to for cameras, or with difficult lighting conditions with minimal touch-ups. Make-up can be as natural or glam or anything in between to suit your ideas.
Smink does get booked up early, as lots of work is through previous recommendations - prebooking is essential. Marianna has quality contacts within the industry should clients require further hairdressers/make-up artists for a larger event. She also has experience with basic hair up-do's as required (but will refer to pro hairdressers if needs be) She loves any creative challenge but is equally happy to do what she does best - to make her clients look the way they want to look..
For brides it is reassuring to have a trial run before the wedding to play about with ideas, and to make sure that the bride-to-be is completely happy with her look for the big day. Marianna can travel, or do pop in to meet her and see her portfolio in Ilkley.

From visiting her home for my trial, receiving caring texts in the run up to the big day and on the day itself transforming myself, bridesmaids and mother of the bride Marianna was never anything less than brilliant!
I had air brush make up done which left my skin looking flawless and the eye make up made my eyes into a stunning feature.
Many guests commented on what a wonderful job Marianna had done, particularly on the mother of the bride who had never looked or felt as good as a result of her make up.
If you are looking for a make up artist with attention to detail and someone who genuinely cares about you on your big day I can't recommend Marianna enough.
My only wish is I had on her hand to make me look that good every day.

Having never had professional make up done before it was a bit of a daunting experience trying to choose someone to take on the task bit I think that asking Marianna was one of the best decisions I made. I was grateful for her flexibility in fitting around my rather strict schedule (accommodating the few dates when I was actually available to meet up). She is a complete professional, provided a fantastic and super friendly service, support in the run up to the big day and and went above and beyond the call of duty on the big day - fixing hair malfunctions and even helping me get my dress on (in spite of being heavily pregnant)! Everyone commented on how great she was and on how lovely everyone looked on the day. Thanks so much for everything Marianna, you are a star!

Marianna came to my house and we worked on some looks together. She gave me her experienced opinion, based on my individual needs and nothing was too much trouble.
On the day, she not only worked her magic on me and my bridesmaid but came to the church to see me off.
Her attention to detail is exemplary and her years of experience really do show in her knowledge and professionlism. Marianna takes a real pride in her work but adds a distinctly personal and individual touch. I would recommend her any time as she has the ability to bring out and highlight a person's natural beauty in a subtle yet effective way.

I gave Marianna a call and arranged to meet her within 24 hours to go through some portfolios of her work. She mainly works doing photo-shoots and makeup for celebrities but enjoys doing bridal makeup also.
Marianna is extremely talented, has a bubbly lovely personality and will get lots for your money too.
Marianna brought lots of makeup, accessories and styling gadgets with her and even gave tips to my girlfriends whilst doing the makeup.
She continued to make sure that I was completely looking my best until the time came when I had to walk down the aisle.
I cannot thank her enough. All of my guests loved the way I looked and complimented me, especially my husband!

Marianna was a brilliant calming influence when we began to get stressed the closer it came to the ceremony and stayed with us right till the end to carry out last minute touch ups. She even helped my gran out with ensuring that she looked her best for my big day. I would recommend Marianna to everyone. her work was fantastic and really good value for money. During my trial we tried out a couple of looks to ensure that we had the best one for my big day and she even travelled all the way to London for me!! She is very friendly and you automatically feel like you are in very good hands!

| 5.05 5.0 out of 5 - "Marianna recently did the makeup for me on a photoshoot which was focussed on getting headshots for me to help me in my acting career. Having had my makeup done professionally before, I was impressed by Marianna's attention to detail and skill of applying product. It was a bit like watching an artist work - she individually mixed tons of lotions and potions and chose colours really suitable to my face. The look that I wanted was natural and she overachevied in this respect, I wish I had her with me every morning! Since having these pictures, I have had loads of comments and lots more casting calls for auditions. My amazing photographer helped, but I can't help but think that the makeup played it's part too. Also she gave me a couple of tips which I now incorporate into my every day makeup routine and I am thinking of hiring her for for a proper makeup lesson to go through colours and makeup know how.
